Manchester United are ready to challenge Benfica for the Croatian wonderkid Nikola Moro, the teen dubbed the new Luka Modric.
The 19-year-old has played 36 times for Dinamo Zagreb and has earned rave reviews for his midfield performances.
His precocious talent has made contrasts with his illustrious compatriot Modric, the former Tottenham playmaker who is considered among his nation’s best ever players.
Following Moro’s excellent displays for Zagreb, scouts from a few of Europe’s greatest clubs are now taking notice and Manchester United are apparently in the mix.
Benfica are also well aware of Moro’s potential and according to Portuguese newspaper Record, they could be set for a transfer tug-of-war with United.
However, it has been recommended that the Old Trafford club will hold the upper hand with Benfica who would be unable to compete with them financially.
Zagreb have already refused a bid of around ₤ 12.5 m from Shakhtar Donetsk, so it is clear that they will not allow him to leave on the cheap, despite his age.
