5 bargain defenders under 5m

5 for 5 – Fantasy football scout: 5 bargain defenders under 5m

1. Markus Suttner, Brighton (£4.5m)

Brighton’s new boy Markus Suttner provided five assists and four goals last season. Suttner could prove an important player for Brighton if he’s able to replicate a similar return in the Premier League, in what could prove be a difficult season.

2. Simon Francis, Bournemouth – £4.5m

Simon Francis contributed to 10 clean sheets last term and at £4.5m is arguably one the most cost-effective defenders for Fantasy Football this term.

3. Ben Mee, Burnley – £4.5m

Burnley conceded only 20 goals in 19 home games last term. Burnleys first five home games are West Brom, Palace, Huddersfield, West Ham and Newcastle. Ben Mee is a steal giving their impressive home defensive record.

4. Cuco Martina, Everton – £4.5m

With Seamus Coleman still injured, Cuco Martina could be set to take his place at right-back.

His most memorable moment came when he scored one of the goals of the season against Arsenal in a 4-0 smashing in 15/16 campaign.

5. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool – £4.5m

The impressive 18-year-old was Liverpool’s 2016/17 Young Player of the Year which helped him earn 12 first-team appearances last season, including a full debut against Manchester United. He also impressed in Liverpool’s 3-0 hammering of Bayern Munich in their pre-season friendly.

Nathaniel Clyne is still injured and unlikely to be fit for their season opener against Watford, so Alexander-Arnold looks most likely to take his place.
